Alíz Nagy’s research explores the intersections of citizenship, political representation, and human rights, with a particular focus on the dynamics of non-resident and transborder populations. Drawing on more than a decade of fieldwork in Transylvania, her work examines how minority communities articulate political claims and navigate evolving forms of membership. She is especially interested in concepts of citizenship and representation, the strategies of transborder political claim-making, and the broader implications of extending rights and political participation beyond territorial boundaries. These themes inform her teaching and ongoing research on how non-resident citizens are enfranchised and represented, and how such practices reshape democratic participation.
