Research in the field of comparative politics: demoratic and non-democratic systems. Elements of democracy: elections and direct democracy, from institutional and democratic theory approaches. Main focus: Hungary, Central Europe, European Union, United States of America.

Research focus on the changes and dynamics of political systems transitions, with particular attention to the process and nature of transition. Exploration and analysis of processes of autocratisation and democratisation in the context of nation states and federal multi-level governance (with particular reference to the EU and the USA). Main theoretical and methodological frameworks: institutionalism, theories of democracy.
